Death and Destruction in Myanmar

I’ve been complaining about gas prices and how much I’m paying for groceries. Then I watched and read about the horrific situation in Myanmar (Burma). When a cyclone hit on Saturday, May 3rd the country was not prepared. The government had notice of the cyclone but did not disclose the information to the people most likely to be affected.

As of now the UN states that 65,000 people are dead or missing. This number may rise if relief agencies can reach the area. The UN has currently stopped sending aid to Myanmar because the junta (the military arm of the government) has taken control of the food, relief packages and equipment. There is no way of knowing if anything is getting to the people who need it.

There have been public pleas from the UN, the US and other countries to allow aid to reach those in need. So far this has not happened. Please think of this when you fill up your gas tank or eat a meal today. Say a prayer and see how you can help. I pray that the US does not have to resort to military force in this situation, but as time goes on this may be the case. We cannot sit by and watch more people die. The people of Myanmar cannot take up for themselves this time.

Blog Talk RadioI have another opportunity to be a guest on Blog Talk Radio tomorrow night. I’m really excited to be talking with Danna Crawford, The Power Selling Mom. Her show is Friday, May 9th at 8 PM EST.

We’ll be discussing blogging, my and Hubby’s website, our eBay store, the Disabled Online Users Association - DOUA and my love of Disney. I’ll also get the chance to tell people about how I’ve come to be an advocate for people with disABILITIES.

Danna is an eBay celebrity. She’s been selling on eBay since 1997 and has been a Power Seller for years. I’m proud to say that she’s my friend and has helped me learn so much. She believes in sharing her knowledge and her money too. She often runs charity auctions. She walks the walk. I hope that you’ll tune in tomorrow night. I’ll probably laugh too much and say, “ummm” a lot but that’s the real me.

I Was Supposed To….

I woke up late today so I didn’t get a chance to shower yet. Don’t get all grossed out. I took a shower yesterday and I’ll be taking another one as soon as I finish this post. I planned on getting some work done on our website, paying bills and maybe even doing some laundry.

Instead I did one load of laundry and moved piles of papers from one place in my house to another. I got online and then got a phone call. Then my Mom dropped by. Then I got another phone call. I need to finish my lunch quick (breaking my rule about eating at the desk), take a shower, pick up Peanut from school and then take Little Bit to the vet.

It will probably be another late night for me again. I know it’s bad for me but I can’t sleep knowing that I have things to do any way. So I sit up late and work on them. Crud, I just realized I didn’t pay those bills and I forgot to buy my Mom’s Mother’s Day present.

Be Concerned Not Worried

I got some great advice today to try to help me overcome my terrible habit of worrying. I do have anxiety, am on medication for it, but believe that I can help myself more by relying on God’s Word, with prayer and turning my worries over to him. She said to me to start using the word “concerned” instead of being “worried”.

Perhaps changing one word can get me on the start I need to looking at things differently. I’m going to try it. Of course at the same time I’m not going to be stupid or irresponsible about things. God gave me a brain so I can use it. And that’s why I know that LifeLock is something smart to use. I’m concerned about identity theft. I know of two people that are close to me who’ve had issues with this.

Identity theft tops the list of complaints that the Federal Trade Commission receives. No worrying for me please. Sign me up with LifeLock.
