Take This Job

Since I’ve been diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis in 2003 our medical bills have been sky high even with an excellent insurance carrier. For over 3 years we have hit the catastrophic limit on our plan. That’s even with my getting Medicare benefits last year.

Organizing and paying the bills, being sure that doctors’ offices, hospitals, pharmacies, labs, etc. all have the correct insurance info, sending the paid receipts to my hubby’s Flexible Spending Account, then getting all of this info ready at tax time (including milage and tolls) is a job in itself.

Keeping track of doctor, lab, and other medical appointments is daunting. When you don’t feel well, when you get confused easily, when you need a calculator to add simple figures, this whole task is one giant stress machine.

I’ve had to ask for help on numerous occassions with all of this. Now I use a day planner and my Yahoo calendar for my appointments. I still forget them sometimes… For the medical bills, I have folders and files, a very good friend who checks over what I’ve done and a speaker phone for all the times I have to wait on hold.

Boy do I know what you’re saying! I use to be the most organized person I know when it came to bills, taxes, and other important book keeping. Now, it all goes in one drawer and I don’t even look at it until I have a semi-well day. Or I get a past due notice, he he.
