Memorial Day

Oh yeah a long weekend coming up. With Peanut’s school coming to an end this is going to be a really fun weekend. She has a playdate tomorrow here. She’s so excited! She’ll get to show off her messy room and all of her stuff and play video games and hopefully pull out some of her toys that have been sitting collecting dust.

Peanut’s been coming out of her shell nicely. It’s fun to see her become the social butterfly she once was as a toddler again. Now half the time she’s on the phone with friends and I have to ask to use it.

Sunday will be church, then a meal out to celebrate my aunt’s birthday. Monday prolly will be a day at my friend’s house with an indoor barbeque - her hubby grills while we eat inside.

But let’s not forget the real reason for this weekend. Especially with all of the horrible things going on in Iraq. So please say a pray for our soldiers there, and other parts of the world where they’re in difficult circumstances, away from their families and trying to make it through another day.

And for those who’ve lost their lives in any war or conflict. What a sacrifice, what a legacy. Thank you and God Bless the families and loved ones touched by this tragedy.

(AP) — As of Friday, May 25, 2007, at least 3,443 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes seven military civilians. At least 2,809 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military’s numbers.

The AP count is 10 higher than the Defense Department’s tally, last updated Friday at 10 a.m. EDT.

The British military has reported 149 deaths; Italy, 33; Ukraine, 18; Poland, 20; Bulgaria, 13; Spain, 11; Denmark, seven; El Salvador, five; Slovakia, four; Latvia, three; Estonia, Netherlands, Thailand, two each; and Australia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Romania, South Korea, one death each.

Bless Our Soldiers
