Stop Abuse
As a survivor of Domestic Violence I am proud to join other bloggers from Blog Catalog in the Bloggers Units Blog Against Abuse Blog Day today. What I’ve come to learn after I got out of my abusive situation is that domestic or partner abuse is all about power and control.
Here is a great way to look at this issue. It is called the Power and Control Wheel. I found this (I had one on my refrigerator for years!) on Turning Point Services.

Now that I am facing multiple chronic illnesses and try to advocate for others like me and anyone with disABILITIES. This issue has me thinking more about how it can affect us in different ways.
“1 in 4 people with a serious mental illness reports being a victim of violent crime in the last year, and people with mental illnesses are more likely than others to experience rape or sexual assault. - study by Dr. Linda A. Teplin, Northwestern University” from SafePlace
Please visit their website for education on preventing abuse by Personal Care Attendants, providing safety education to people with disABLITIES and help available for victims.
The National Domestic Violence phone number(s) is: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) and 1-800-787-3224 (TTY). Please call if you are in any type of abusive relationship.

I suffered this and other forms of abuse over 25 years of marriage until I didn’t want to live any more. Fortunately, I realised that I did want to live and I divorced him. I have been blessed with a wonderful and kind husband this time. I applaud you for warning readers of the dangers of staying too long in an abusive relationship. I do blame all the stress for my many health issues today. Another reason to get out now, abused ladies!
Blessings,
Glenys
