Far Away
When your family is going through a difficult time and you’re not close by, not even in the same state it can be even more stressful. There’s nothing like a touch, a hug, or a shoulder to let someone cry on.
But thank God for technology. We’ve been able to use cell phones (sparingly)and email which goes to Blackberry cell phones. One cousin is able to use her business clout to line up rooms with a corporate discount at a local hotel.
The non-immediate family of my Uncle all keeping in touch through emails and phone calls. We’re supporting each other and helping to make decisions about travel plans if the time comes. Imagine what all this would be like if it were years ago (1930’s or so, I’m not being real accurate here). We’d just get a telegram and have to pack up and leave if we could afford it. I’m sure that many people back then couldn’t and didn’t get to see family for years on end.
In this difficult time I’m blessed by many things: not only my family who loves and cares for each other, but for the ability to get word of important news to each other quickly and efficiently. Also having so many people I don’t even know in person (my Invisible Friends) praying, sending their love and kind words just makes things go a bit more smoothly.

I am so sorry to hear you are back in the “wait and worry” mode with another relative. And yes, thank heaven we all have more advance technology to keep us all together in times like this. I’m keeping you and your family in my thoughts!

It’s amazing how much smaller technology has made the world, isn’t it? Still, there is no cure or fix for old-fashioned worrying. I hope that your uncle improves soon and that some good news comes your way through one electronic means or another.
