Heart To Heart
I love Hubby more than words can describe. We don’t argue much. He works hard and then does so much at home when I’m not able to because I’m sick. I can’t complain so I won’t.
His work hours just got switched. He starts work now at 6:30 AM. His commute is about an hour and he’s had overtime everyday. He’s exhausted when he comes home and can’t do much of anything. Who can blame him?
My house is a mess! Our den has been finished for over a year now (it was an addition). We still haven’t finished decorating it. Our bedroom needs to be painted. He did the molding and then stopped. We have blue painting tape all over that room and the other walls that need painting.
There’s clutter everywhere because there’s no place to put anything. Our closets need to be re-organized. We need our family photos put up on the walls. We really need a new mattress for our bed and new curtains for the windows. Every room needs something.
I sat down with Hubby to talk about this state of affairs. Since he’s making more money with the overtime and he has no time to finish these household chores we’ve decided to hire some handymen to get things back on track. It’s a good feeling to be able to discuss something and come to an agreement. We both are comprising though. It hurts him to be unable to do things around the house. I think it hurts his pride. And I said that I’d work on keeping the clutter to a minimum and doing more chores that I’m capable of. I’ve been using the excuse that the house is a mess anyway so why bother? Not any more.

Sometimes life gets so busy that we just don’t have time for the things that we want to do so I think that it’s great that your hubby is putting aside his male pride (which all men have) and allowing someone else to come in and complete the tasks that his schedule just doesn’t allow for. In the end I’m sure he’ll be relieved that there is less pressure on him and he can enjoy his time out of work a little more.
As for a house being a mess - ugh! I just can’t seem to get motivated to do anything with mine lately but I’m going to blame it on the cold weather! Of course if I wait until spring to do some cleaning this place is really going to be a wreck!
