Root Canal

I had everything planned for today, or so I thought. This morning was Women’s Bible Study. I took Peanut to school, drove to my Aunt’s house to eat breakfast and then drive my Aunt to Bible Study.

After Bible Study I took my Aunt home. I, my Aunt and my Mom went out to lunch. Mom was going to drive me to the dentist as I had a root canal. She was my back up to pick up Peanut from school too in case it took me too long at the dentist.

As we were eating lunch I realized that today was an early release from school. So we had to rush through lunch, Mom had to drop me off and pick up Peanut. I felt horrible to put Mom through such stress. More stress than I already had about my dentist appointment.

I was not looking forward to getting a root canal. I asked my some friend about what it feels like as I’ve never had one. I was told they can be a little painful. Some of my friends said that once they got their shot they didn’t feel anything and it was a breeze. For me though of course things are more complicated. I mean why not?

I can’t have the normal shots of anesthesia that people get during dental work because I have a rare disease called Myasthenia Gravis. The dentist could only give me a shot that lasts a short time. So I ended up getting about 5 shots because of the time the root canal took. Getting the anesthesia makes me feel sleepy and weak, so having five shots made it even worse today.

The nerve was so inflamed that it was bleeding and it went from one canal into two. The dentist said these are difficult ones to do. And with having to have all those shots because I”d start to feel her digging into my tooth, gum, etc. I wanted to scream!

It’s all over now. She said I’ll probably hurt for three or more days and she’s right. My upper jaw hurts, my tooth hurts, I hurt from grabbing onto the chair handles. I hope this doesn’t scare anyone from getting work done at the dentist. Remember I’m a special case…like always.

Oh you poor thing! Dental pain can be excruciating even with a normal shot, never mind 5 of them! Hope you feel better soon but until then take it easy.

Praying you are feeling better. I just think about when I had my wisdom teeth removed as it seems like yesterday, definitely remember the pain.

My youngest daughter is having all 4 wisdom teeth removed next Monday. She is already in pain.
