Book Fair

stack of books

Peanut came home with her school’s book fair sales paperwork. I always allow her to buy a few books because she loves reading and I want to encourage that to continue, her school makes some money from the sales of the books and because you can never have too many books.

The one thing that I don’t like about the book fairs in the past few years is that they don’t just sell books. They’ve added school supplies, like pencils, erasers, bookmarks, etc. There’s also posters and even computer games. We always go over the list of books and even go online to see what’s not listed on the sale sheet. Then I help her fill out a list of books she can buy.

Peanut gets carried away though and comes home with some other stuff from the change after buying a few books, or if they don’t have the ones on the list she’ll decide that a poster is just what she needs.

I got smart this year. First I’m volunteering for a few hours. Then I wrote in big letters on her wish list “Books Only”. I hope they get the hint.
