Spreading The Word

I help run a Chronic Illness Support Group at my church. My Pastor helps me out with it as it can get to be quite a lot of work. Not the group itself but organizing things, choosing a topic to discuss, being sure that the members are informed of the meeting (a lot of us have brain fog so we may know when the meetings are each month and then forget) and getting the room set up with seats, Bibles, name tags, papers and of course food and drinks.

We’re at the point now where we want to see about finding some new members. One idea we had was to put up flyers in doctors’ offices. Another idea was to provide business cards for members to keep with them. If they meet up with someone that they’d like to invite to the group, all the have to do is hand them a card.

Deciding on a logo design is a bit more difficult. We want to convey that we rely on Jesus and the Bible for our spiritual needs. I was able to create a logo which is then placed on a business card very easily at a site called LogoYes.com. First I chose an image for the logo. I went with “Bold”. Then I had many options for the logo itself. I tried medical but it didn’t convey what I wanted. So I went with religious instead. It was easy to add the name of our church and the support group name, then choose a business card design to place this information on.

You can play around with the features, moving the logo closer or farther apart from your wording. There are so many types of fonts to look through to see what really fits. And then even after you put the logo on the card, you have more options.

It was a quick and painless process even for me. It’s nice to have the logo and cards match so that people can put the two together. For this type of group anything that helps people remember is a huge plus.
