Braggging Rights
This morning I was able to attend Peanut’s honor roll ceremony. She has been doing very well in school (takes after her mom) and got AB Honor Roll for the third semester in a row. She only has one “B” and it’s in Math and it’s an 89. I’d hate to be a teacher and have to enter that grade on a child’s report card. But I’m rambling.

It was a nice ceremony, nothing fancy, but gave the students something to feel proud about. The local Kiwanis club gave out an extra award, the BUG award. BUG = Bringing Up a Grade. This award is for a student who worked to bring up a grade that gave them trouble before. Students who got this received a day pass to Weeki Wachee. I thought that this rewarded students who put in effort but may not have done well enough for Honor Roll. Some students who got Honor Roll or Principals List (all A’s) got the BUG award too though.
Peanut is going on a field trip today to a local limestone quarry. She’s excited to see how it works. The also provide food, drinks and games for them. It was only $3, what a bargain, dahling! The school year is coming to a close soon. You can feel it in the air. It feels like it flew by but I’m old so that’s what happens, especially when you have children.
Tomorrow I’ll be attending Career Day at Peanut’s school. I’ll go in the afternoon so that I can spend some time with Peanut looking around. She can leave school early. We’ll head to the store to buy her friend’s birthday present and then she’s off to another camping out sleepover birthday party. Soon she’ll be dating, going away to college and getting married.
If I could drink I’d need a very strong one right now. Instead I’m getting something to eat.

Tell her congrats from me, too! Man I miss those days of honor roll. We always got to have ice cream sundae parties to celebrate.
