I don’t have an infant or toddler any more, but I still use outlet plugs. We had our home tested when we were having problems with our air conditioner last summer. This test checked all types of air leaks as well as the air conditioner itself. One of the things we learned is that outlets allow air to leak. Air leaks cause the air conditioner to work more which costs us money on our electric bill.

After the test, we got a list of recommendations and one of them was to install outlet plugs. They’re inexpensive so we bought a bunch of packages, feeling like new parents, and plugged them in.

All well and good, but when I need to use an outlet I have to remove those suckers. For me pulling out the plugs is not only difficult but painful. I have rheumatoid arthritis and osteo-arthritis and trying to get get a handle on a plug is like me trying to open a jar after Hubby closed it.
