Baby Shower Fun
Today I attended a baby shower for a new mom from my church. It was held at our Pastor’s house and given by our Pastor’s wife. The party was enjoyable and a bit different. A lot of women attended. Most I knew from church, some were family and friends of the new mom that I hadn’t met until the party. Most of the mothers there homeschool their children so there were many children of all ages present. The new mom had her baby already. She didn’t want to know the sex of the baby before the birth so she asked to have the shower after the baby arrived.
We started off with tea or coffee and muffins. We were asked to write our names and addresses on the thank you card envelopes along with either a Scripture verse or advice for the new mom. Then we all went into the large living room to watch her open her gifts. Kim, my Pastor’s wife said that she didn’t do baby shower games and that got the women applauding. See, we don’t like those silly games! I was surprised to learn that about the other women. I always thought that games were expected and that people really liked them. I’m glad that Kim was independent enough to be different and say that she wasn’t playing no games.
After all of the presents, we had a tasty lunch and cake and ice cream. I left soon after and realized that we were there for over 2 and a half hours. The time flew.
