BlogBlast For Peace - Kindness and Love
This is my second year taking part in the BlogBlast For Peace. I’m honored that Mimi from MimiWrites asked me to take part this year and even had my Peace Globe from last year as an example.
Mimi does a lot of work for this yearly event. She even has reasons for writing our posts. I am going in a different direction though, sorry Mimi. It is all related to peace so it fits well.
Instead of focusing on the areas of the world where there are wars, conflicts, terror campaigns in different forms from economic to tyranny or famines I decided to focus on kindness. I saw something about this on the Ellen DeGeneres show. I don’t watch her show normally but since I’ve been pretty much sleeping or resting, I’ve been a couch potato. The TV is always on and I saw a guest on her show talk about how acts of kindness can really turn people’s lives around, both for the giver and receiver.
I’m making an effort to be kind on a daily basis. I know this is something we’ve heard about before but it’s so needed now. So many people are hurting. There’s too much crime, loneliness, sadness and financial hardship. Our world is caving in around us. If each of us committed to an RAOK each day, I really believe we can make a difference. If we go out of our comfort zone, even better.
As a Christian I see around me many examples of unkindness, rudeness and even hatred. The Jesus I know, taught love and welcomed everyone, especially those who were unloved. I believe that is my life’s work, to love those that people who claim to be Christians say are not worthy of love. I’ve read and seen protesters who use hatred in God’s name against homosexuals, people who work in abortion clinics and the women who are going into the clinics, people who have “different” political views, people who share different religious beliefs, agnostics, atheists, etc……
This is not what love is. Hate will bear more hate:

This is what love and kindness is. Love and kindness will bear more of the same:

Thank you for being such a beautiful person, Connie. The things you depicted above are what turned me off to organized religion long ago. Thank you for reminding me that there are Christians out there who embody what I thought Christianity was all about before I became so disillusioned. I wish I knew where to find a church like yours where I live.

I love your focus on KINDNESS and your Peace Globe! How nifty to have participated previously too. I’ve only been blogging about 7 months, so this was my first opportunity. I did share differently on each of my blogs … in my own way. Perhaps you’ll find time to drop by ;–)
I wish you a productively peace-filled day, every day!
Hugs and blessings,
