Play Date For Mom And Daughter
Today was a play date at my house. It was with one of my dearest friends and her three children plus a baby that she babysits. It’s great because if I need to lie down and close my eyes or just can’t get up to help the kids with snacks it’s not a big deal. I don’t need to be the “hostess with the mostess”.
We actually had a day without rain so the kids were able to go outside and run around in the backyard. They played on the swing set and the trampoline. They played in the driveway with the bikes and scooters and even played a short game of hockey with a beach ball!
My friend and I got to relax and chat while the baby crawled around checking out the house and our furbaby, Little Bit. The kids even sat for a while inside and watched a DVD and ate popcorn.
It was good for me to have someone to talk and laugh with and to get my mind off the things that are bothering me. I always enjoy having the children around as they are so cuddly and make me laugh. Peanut enjoys being with all of them. It was great that she got out of the house today.
I’m planning on inviting my Pastor’s wife and their children over in two weeks (after our vacation) so we can spend some quiet time together. I know I can do the same with her. If I’m not feeling well she’ll understand if I sit back and just rest.
When you have a chronic illness you can’t be on your best friend behavior all the time. Friends that get that are the best kind to have!
