Fay Hit Us A Bit
How ironic, Tuesday Peanut was off from school due to Tropical Storm Fay. Last night we were under a Tropical Storm Watch and it was raining, hard. The wind was blowing, hard. The county above us closed their schools. Hubby and I expected that school would be closed again today.
We watched the late news. School was still open. We went to sleep and kept waking up to howling wind and rain. In the morning Hubby checked the news. School was still open. The rain was getting worse. We’d get squalls that would make the rain sound a like hail hitting the house. But I promised myself that if school was open Peanut would go.
You see, last year Peanut had some problems with going to school. She was afraid to leave me, a bit of late separation anxiety. This year I wasn’t going to keep her home unless it was totally necessary. So I wasn’t being unsafe. I didn’t want to give her an excuse that every time it rained she thought she’d get to stay home.
Anyway….around 11:15 I heard that a tree was down in our area and that power was off. I figured the schools would be closing. Nope. Peanut spent the day at school and enjoyed her Friday. Her day went along normally. She was thrilled that she didn’t have any homework.
And by now, the rain and the wind have stopped. I”m praying for all of those in Florida who were affected by Fay. We were blessed again without any terrible weather, damage or injury.

We deal with that and snow. All the schools around us will be closed, and we will be open. Doesn’t make sense to me, but whatever. Boo always goes, even if I have a nervous moment about it. I don’t want her to get in the habit of snow means no school. There will be enough snow days over the years.

Funny how the one day that school did close there was nothing but then today there was - just goes to show that weather is totally unpredictable! Glad to hear that it was nothing serious, though - very glad!

I am just glad it is over, now I want everything to dry out. It is dripping wet outside. It did rain a bit today, but I don’t think it was part of Fay.
